Bodega Dunes State Beach to Samuel P. Taylor State Park

40.6 Miles

In the morning I rode in to Bodega Bay. It's where The Birds was shot, but the tourist office wasn't open yet, so I couldn't find out where they'd done it. But I took some pictures of some birds.

From there Highway 1 headed inland, and the sky cleared and it got warmer. I stopped in Valley Ford to buy groceries, and Scott arrived, and headed on. I caught up to and passed him. I stopped for lunch in Marshall, and he caught up.

We rode into Pt. Reyes Station, where Scott found a bike repair guy, and I found an ice cream place.

Then I went to the Information Centre in the Point Reyes National Seashore. Looked at the displays. Did the Earthquake Trail. It went passed the San Andreas Fault, where the epicentre of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake was. I also checked out the recreation of an Indian village. Scott arrived while I was checking out the centre, but was gone by the time I got back from the earthquake trail. He was heading to the hostel.

Dry land

I rode to Samuel P. Taylor State Park. There was some old, drunk guy at the hiker/biker site. As were the Austrian couple. The place had sites spread out through the trees on different levels. I got set up.

Another guy arrived. Then Ken and Phillip showed up, followed by Wayne and Guido and Waltraud. Last, but not least, Josh and Sam rolled in. It was funny how every day there were more people at the hiker/biker site than the day before.
